18 Year Old Bedard Honored with Calder Award

LAS VEGAS (THURSDAY) – Chicago Blackhawks 18-year-old center Connor Bedard was honored with the Calder Award as NHL Rookie of the Year at the NHL Awards Ceremony. The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, Bedard led all rookies with 22 goals and 61 points despite missing 14 games with a broken jaw. He returned on Feb. 15 and scored 28 points in his final 29 games.

Bedard’s accomplishments include leading rookies in shots (206), even-strength points (40) and minutes per game (19:47). He also ranked second in power play points (21) and led the Blackhawks in total points. Bedard is the 10th Blackhawk to win the Calder Trophy and the first since Artemi Panarin in 2015-16. He received 1,808 points in the Professional Hockey Writers Association voting, including 152 first-place votes.
